Women's Services in Oldham

Mother & BabyWho is the service for?

The refuge staffed 24 hours a day is at the heart of services for women in Oldham.

Staffed services are also provided at Shepley House and Hiltons Close.

Move on housing is provided at Hollins Road and Oldham Road.

In limited circumstances, the women's services can refer people to independent accommodation at Glamorgan Place.

How do schemes differ

  • Refuge - the refuge provides safe accommodation for women and their children who are experiencing domestic abuse. The refuge is staffed 24 hours a day. When a women feels she is ready to leave the refuge, she will be given support in finding a new home.
  • Shepley House - Shepley House provides 10 self contained flats for women aged 16-60.
  • Hiltons Close - Hiltons Close has 8 flats for women and women with children.
  • Hollins Road - Hollins Road has 6 flats providing move on accommodation for women and women with children.
  • Oldham Road - Oldham Road provides self contained flats in one block offering accommodation and support to single women aged 16-60 who have moved on usually from one of the other services.

When are staff available?

Threshold staff are available at the refuge 24 hours per day and on extended hours during the week and for a limited time over the weekend at Hiltons Close and Shepley House. A security firm will attend if there is a building emergency at other times.
